1-2 Inches of Snow Tuesday, Bitter Wind Chills
First snow accumulation of 2015 to be followed by the coldest air of the season.

Light snow is expected to start falling Tuesday morning, bringing the first snow accumulation of 2015 to Long Island.
It won’t be much, however, if the forecast proves accurate.
A total of 1-2 inches of snow is possible across the island, but the National Weather Service’s New York office says there is “coherent agreement with snow amounting to less than 2 inches.”

Whatever snow does fall, though, will not be melting anytime soon with the coldest air of the young winter season on tap.
The high will be near 27 on Tuesday, the NWS says, with the temperature falling to around 20 Tuesday night.

Wednesday gets colder with a chance of snow showers. The high will be near 29, but blustery winds will make it feel like between 5 and 15. The low on Wednesday night will be in the single digits–possibly as low as 6 degrees–with wind chill values between -5 and -15, the NWS say.
Thursday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high near 20. On Friday, the high of 35 will feel like a spring day, comparatively.
