Power Outages Strike Commack
Traffic lights out, stores evacuated after transformer blows.

A transformer reportedly blew out in Commack Friday afternoon, shutting off traffic lights and evacuating stores as hundreds lost power.
One person posted on Twitter at 2:57 p.m.:
“Just in Macy’s in Commack and the power went out. All traffic lights out. restaurants and stores have no power for a few miles. Evacuated.”

As of 3:17 p.m., PSEG-Long Island was reporting 208 power outages in Commack, with power expected to be restored completely by 6:15 p.m.
