Ambulance Fleet Grows Ahead of Long Beach SNCH Facility Opening
Long Beach to get an extra ambulance ahead of May 1 opening of new medical facility.

As South Nassau Communities Hospital preps for the opening of an emergency services center next month, officials announced an extra ambulance would be added to the fleet.
The City of Long Beach announced they are partnering with SNCH to provide emergency response to the community.
“As recommended by public safety experts, the City and South Nassau are now working together to augment the City’s existing ambulance fleet with South Nassau’s ambulances, and institutional capabilities, creating synergies that will result in enhanced services for residents on our barrier island,” said City Manager Jack Schnirman in a statement.

“South Nassau has made a major commitment to improve medical services on the barrier island in the wake of Superstorm Sandy, so this agreement with the City of Long Beach to provide secondary backup for 911 ambulance calls is a logical next step as part of our overall plan,” said Richard Murphy, president and chief executive officer of SNCH. “This move should help improve response time for residents while better coordinating emergency care.”
SNCH is set to begin operating its ambulances May 1.
