Father of Brian Moore Recounts Night His Son Was Shot

Raymond Moore relives the last days of his son, calling him a "model cop" and "the epitome of a hero."

A week after Officer Brian Moore was laid to rest, his father, Sgt. Raymond Moore, recounted the moment his world came crashing down.

Moore, 57, called his son’s cellphone after hearing that an officer who worked at Brian’s precinct had been shot, according to The New York Post.

When another officer picked up the phone, the retired sergeant demanded to know the details of what had happened. “He’s been shot,” the officer reportedly said. “In the face.”

Moore rushed to the hospital and was at his son’s side until the moment he died, all the while navigating the wave of prayers and condolences that were rushing toward their family.

“People say he’s an American hero. And to me, I think he is. He is the epitome of a hero,” he said, according to the report. “He is the model cop. If you’re a kid and you want to emulate somebody, this is who you emulate.”
