Lockhart Students Build 'Lungs in Action' Simulator
Young Massapequa scientists explore respiratory system.

The sixth grade students at Lockhart have been learning about the systems of the human body. In their study of the respiratory system, the students made a model of the system. This model simulated the interaction between the muscular and the respiratory systems by demonstrating how the lungs inflate and deflate. They were also able to connect this activity with their study of the differences in air pressure and what happens as a result. The students enjoyed the building of the model and now have a visual display of the respiratory system.
