Police: Armed Man Robs Centereach Gas Station

The robbery occurred early Sunday morning.

A man armed with a knife robbed a Centereach gas station early Sunday morning, police said.

The robbery occurred at 3:38 a.m. at a gas station on Middle Country Road, police said.

Police did not specify the gas station, but they said the robber escaped with an undetermined amount of cash.

The robber was described as tall, wearing a black leather jacket, mask and blue jeans.

Police said detectives continue to investigate to determine whether or not the robbery is part of a recent “robbery pattern” across the county.

Between Dec. 22 and Jan. 8, there were 11 armed robberies across Suffolk at gas stations and donut shops.

During recent robberies that police believed are connected, the robber has been dressed in a black jacket, black pants, black hoodie, and wearing a black ski mask. During earlier robberies, police are searching for two suspects.

Police are asking anyone that may have information about these incidents, or the people involved, to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. Crime Stoppers is offering a $3,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the people responsible for the pattern robberies.
