• Kitty Hawk approves $13.2M budget, other Towns could follow this week (outerbanksvoice.com) — Kitty Hawk has adopted a nearly $13.2 million town budget for 2026–27, raising the property tax rate to 23.5 cents and creating a dedicated fire apparatus reserve fund. Public safety will account for half of all spending, with a 3% cost-of-living raise for town employees, while nearby Dare County towns consider their own budgets this month. 
• 2027 Scooter Cannonball (advrider.com) — Kitty Hawk is set to be the starting point for the 2027 Scooter Cannonball, a self-guided cross-country scooter ride to Santa Cruz planned for June 20–27, 2027. Riders will choose their own routes and stops, with organizers coordinating logistics like shipping help and casual pizza gatherings, and more details coming on the event website soon.
