• Leatherback turtle spotted in Southern Shores (wcti12.com) — An early-morning beachgoer in Southern Shores recently encountered a massive leatherback sea turtle, prompting a quick response from the Network for Endangered Sea Turtles. Volunteers documented the rare visit—only the second this season in that stretch of the Outer Banks—and are still trying to understand puzzling tracks the turtle left behind before returning to the ocean.
