• Anglers take lead on OBX effort to recycle fishing line (outerbanksvoice.com) — A Southern Shores resident is helping lead a new Outer Banks program to collect and recycle discarded fishing line before it harms sea turtles, birds, and other marine life. Working with the Outer Banks Anglers Club, volunteers are installing and maintaining collection tubes at piers, marinas, and public access points, aiming to gather at least 100 pounds of monofilament in the first year.
