28 North Penn Students Named National Merit 'Commended Scholars'

All National Merit Scholarship Award recipients will be honored at a breakfast in October at North Penn High School in Lansdale.

Twenty eight North Penn High School students were recognized as commended scholars in the 2014-2015 National Merit Scholarship Competition, school district officials announced Friday.

The following students were recognized as commended scholars:

  • Natalie McCollum
  • Eric McKenna
  • Edward Metz

“Approximately 34,000 Commended Students throughout the United States are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. These students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the 2013 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test,” according to an announcement from the district.

The National Merit Scholarship Award recipients, including the 23 semi-finalists announced earlier this month, will be honored at a breakfast on Oct. 28 at North Penn High School.
