Gap Body In Newtown will close Aug. 21, and reopen this fall as Athleta. The store, located on State Street in Newtown Borough, carries various undergarments, pajamas and casual wear. Athleta, also owned by Gap, specializes in sporting wear, including yoga, running and hiking clothing. Click here for details.

A new donut shop is opening locally. Factory Donuts owner Heather Restituto confirms the donut shop, which has a location in Philadelphia, is expanding to Newtown. Specifically where remains a secret — for now. Click here for details.
Construction is underway for a new Starbucks in Newtown Township that will feature a drive-through window. The coffee shop chain's third Newtown location is currently being built in what was formerly a portion of the parking lot adjacent to the McCaffrey's in the Village at Newtown Shopping Center. A sale is pending on the property that formerly housed The Saloon restaurant, according to an online listing from broker Richardson Commercial. The Saloon closed in March. Click here for details.

Indian Food Restaurant Opening
Cross Culture, which has locations in Doylestown, Buckingham, New Hope and Princeton, will be opening in the Village at Newtown South Shopping Center. Cross Culture, which serves up cuisine from Northern India, will be taking over the spot that formerly housed International Noodles, near Great Clips. Click here for details.
Turning Point, a restaurant serving breakfast, brunch and lunch, will open a Newtown location this fall at the Village at Newtown Shopping Center. Click here for details.
Triple Sun, an ultra-premium small batch distillery, opened last month on State Street. The tasting room features handmade cocktails and local wine, beer, cider and mead with a focus on its own line of hand crafted small-batch spirits. Click here for details.
Nina's Waffles Opening Delayed
Nina's Waffles, the popular ice cream and sweet shop with four other Bucks County locations, will be opening a store at the historic Toll House at the Village at Newtown Shopping Center. A summer opening was originally planned, however, construction on the building remains underway. Business representatives tell Patch they'll be confirming an opening date shortly.
