Watch Live Stream: Democrats Rally At Supreme Court Against Trump Order On Immigration

House and Senate Democrats will gather in front of the court Monday to demand Trump reverse his order.

Democrats fighting President Donald Trump's executive order calling for the temporary ban of people of certain nationalities from entering the country will rally in front of the Supreme Court on Monday to demand that Trump reverse his order.

The executive order signed Friday prevents nationals of Libya, Somalia, Yemen, Iraq, Iran, Syria and Sudan from entering the country for immigrant and non-immigrant purposes for 90 days, temporarily bans refugees from entering the country and indefinitely suspends Syrian refugees from entering the country. The effects of the ban were immediately apparent with confusion and chaos at airports over how to implement the order. Even people who had been residing in the U.S. legally, as lawful permanent residents or with visas, were subject to the ban.

The Department of Homeland Security later said that green card holders would no longer be subject to the ban. The agency also said it would comply with judicial orders after a federal judge issued a stay preventing those being detained from being deported, while at the same time saying they would implement the executive order.

"President Trump’s unconstitutional executive order banning refugees and the citizens of Muslim nations betrays everything the Statue of Liberty and our nation stand for," House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi wrote in a "Dear Colleague" letter on Sunday. "The President’s action is not only unconstitutional but immoral. As Pope Francis said, “It’s hypocrisy to call yourself a Christian and chase away a refugee or someone seeking help.

"At the same time, we have been moved and inspired by the scenes of Americans, including Members of our Caucus, rallying to airports across the nation to demand justice for the men, women and children detained and/or deported under the President’s order. We continue press for answers and demand that the federal court injunction issued last night be honored."

In her letter, Pelosi wrote that all members are urged to attend the event being held at 6 p.m. Monday to express solidarity.

Democrats made their way to major airports over the weekend to join demonstrators opposing the ban. At a press conference in New York City on Sunday, Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer said Senate Democrats would be introducing legislation to overturn the order. A spokesman for Schumer told POLITICO that the bill is currently being drafted.

At times getting emotional, Schumer said he would fight the order with every fiber of his being. He said getting Republicans on board would be key to passing the legislation.

As the weekend progressed, more and more Republicans came out against the ban.

Trump defended the order in a statement Sunday and on Monday, he took to Twitter to say there was "nothing nice about searching for terrorists before they can enter our country" and in a follow-up tweet said if he had announced the ban with a one week notice, the "bad" would rush into the country. He also blamed the Delta outage for the chaos at airports, however the detentions and protests started Saturday morning and the Delta outage struck Sunday night.
