Evanston Beaches To Close To Public 2 Hours Earlier

Starting Tuesday, beaches closes at 9 p.m., though lakefront parks remain open until 11 p.m.

EVANSTON, IL - The City of Evanston has announced updated hours for sand activities at Evanston beaches.

Beginning Tuesday, July 14, members of the public may access Evanston beaches between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. only. At 9 p.m., beaches will close for all activities and any remaining visitors will be asked to leave. Previously, beaches were open for sand activities until 11 p.m.

Evanston beaches will remain open for swimming from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. daily through September 7. A daily admission pass or season token is required for admission. Those who enter the water after 7:30 p.m. are subject to a fine of $50.

This summer, Evanston has seen an increase in beach visitors, both during and after swimming hours. The updated beach schedule is being implemented to maintain public safety and to be respectful of those in surrounding neighborhoods.

Evanston parks remain open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. unless otherwise designated. Playgrounds and tot lots are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
