Fox Says Donald Trump Has 'Extreme,' 'Sick' Obsession With Megyn Kelly

After Trump called for a boycott of Megyn Kelly's show, Fox News called out the Republican presidential frontrunner.

After Donald Trump's latest attack on Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly calling her overrated and asking viewers to boycott her show, the network struck back saying Trump's obsession with Kelly was "sick and beneath the dignity of a presidential candidate."

Trump's feud with Kelly began in August 2015 at the first Republican presidential debate. Kelly asked Trump if he possesses the temperament to be president considering his remarks towards women where he referred to them as "fat pigs," "slobs," and "disgusting animals."

Following the debate, Kelly became a regular target of Trump's anger including the immediate aftermath of the debate when Trump said she had "blood coming out of her wherever" when she asked him about his choice of words towards women. Kelly decided not to respond to the comment.

Trump's tweets targeting Kelly and Fox News in the past all claim the network is biased against him.

In January, Trump skipped a GOP debate after Fox refused to remove Kelly as a moderator. This week, Trump claimed the anchor did not fairly represent the success he has had in the primaries.

He later called for a boycott of her show.

Fox News issued a strongly worded statement through a spokesperson after his latest comment.

“Donald Trump’s vitriolic attacks against Megyn Kelly and his extreme, sick obsession with her is beneath the dignity of a presidential candidate who wants to occupy the highest office in the land," the statement said. "Megyn is an exemplary journalist and one of the leading anchors in America — we’re extremely proud of her phenomenal work and continue to fully support her throughout every day of Trump’s endless barrage of crude and sexist verbal assaults. As the mother of three young children, with a successful law career and the second highest rated show in cable news, it’s especially deplorable for her to be repeatedly abused just for doing her job.”

The Donald wasn't convinced.

Trump currently leads the delegate field in the Republican presidential nominating contest.
