Indianapolis School Bus Crash: Principal Dead, 2 Children Injured [UPDATES]
A bus crashed into a group of schoolchildren Tuesday afternoon.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — A school bus jumped a curb outside an elementary school Tuesday afternoon, striking several children and killing their principal as she stood with them, according to the local school district.
Officials are still determining what caused the accident, which killed Susan Jordan, the principal of Amy Beverland Elementary School. Two children were sent to the hospital.
“We ask for your thoughts and prayers for all involved in the tragic events of this afternoon,” the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township said on its Facebook page.

Two children were taken to Riley Children’s Hospital and were in stable condition, a hospital spokesperson told Patch.
Mental health support was scheduled to be on campus for “several days” for faculty and staff following the accident.

A message left by Patch with Indianapolis Metro Police was not immediately returned.
“Thinking of all the students, families & teachers @ Amy Beverland in @MSDLawrenceELC after reports of school bus accident this afternoon,” U.S. Rep. Andre Carson said on Twitter.
All classes in the Lawrence Township Metropolitan School District will be cancelled Wednesday.
