SEE: Sleet, Freezing Rain, And Snow Pummel The US
Heavy amounts of snow and freezing rain lashed much of the US over the weekend. See photos of the winter storm.

ACROSS AMERICA-- Snow, sleet and freezing rain blanketed much of the U.S. Sunday. Spanning from the southern Rocky Mountains to New England, the storm affected nearly 180 million Americans. Subzero temperatures have left the high snow totals frozen, causing tree branches and power lines to snap under the weight of ice. Hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses in the Southeast were left without electricity. At least 13 weather-related deaths have been reported.
The storm caused thousands of flight cancellations in the nations busiest airports, leaving passengers stranded. More than 11,400 flights were canceled on Sunday, according to flight-tracking site FlightAware. The storm caused the most flight cancellations since the start of the pandemic. Schools across the region also cancelled classes ahead of the storm.
As the storm winds down, its wake leaves many to dig out their cars, avoid hazardous driving conditions, and a snow day to enjoy some sledding.
