United Flights Delayed Worldwide by System Problem
The airline said the issue was resolved this morning and any delayed flights were resuming service.

Passengers flying United Airlines late Thursday night experienced widespread delays due to a computer glitch the airline experienced with its luggage-weight reporting system.
As of 3 a.m. (ET), the airline said the issue had been resolved and any delayed flights were resuming service. The airline did not provide any further details.
Those flying United reported long delays and being stranded on the tarmac.

A passenger from Chicago, Amy Zandy, told NBC News she was incredulous the Chicago-based air carrier didn't have backup systems and that people were "losing their minds."
"You are literally a global conglomerate," she said while waiting in the San Francisco airport. "You don't have backup systems? You don't know how to manually process this information?"

The computer issue is the latest in a series of similar problems that have delayed passengers across the world. In August, Delta Airlines cancelled thousands of flights due to a system-wide outage that started with a power outage in Atlanta.
