Aimed at teachers, nurses, first responders and other essential workers, the energy-efficient homes use a land-trust model to keep them affordable for decades.

Virginia Gas Prices: Cheapest and most expensive places to fill up - Sept. 8, 2026 (wsls.com) — Drivers in Blacksburg can expect to pay about $3.97 per gallon for regular gas right now, slightly above the statewide average of $3.96. The report compares prices across Roanoke, Lynchburg, and the New River Valley and points readers to GasBuddy for finding the cheapest nearby stations.

New River Conservancy nominated as AmeriCorps NCCC 'Partner of the Year' (montcova.com) — Work by AmeriCorps Team Grizzly 7 in Blacksburg included restoring a beaver dam analog and cleaning up a tire dump along Stroubles Creek, helping protect local waterways.
