The delay follows strong neighborhood pushback from families who want to keep the small, well-performing pre-K–3 school open, while the new superintendent reviews data ahead of a decision that could affect about 300 students by 2028.

LS Cable & System plans $689 million manufacturing complex in Chesapeake (13newsnow.com) — LS Cable & System is planning a massive $689 million advanced materials manufacturing complex on 86 acres in Chesapeake's Greenbrier area, separate from its existing GreenLink project. Together, the two complexes represent nearly $1.4 billion in investment, expected to bring future phases, more jobs, and a major long-term economic boost for Chesapeake and the wider Hampton Roads region.
   

3. Family devastated after Chesapeake father dies in shooting witnessed by his children (13newsnow.com) — A 37-year-old father was shot outside his Chesapeake home on Teresa Drive and later died, with his young children witnessing the violence, according to police and neighbors. Investigators say they know everyone involved and see no ongoing public threat, but no charges have been announced as the Chesapeake Police Department and Commonwealth's Attorney continue reviewing the case.
   

4. HRT's Student Freedom Pass celebrates 10 years (wavy.com) — Chesapeake teens ages 13 to 17 can ride Hampton Roads Transit buses, light rail, and other modes for free through HRT's Student Freedom Pass, which is celebrating its 10th year.
