• Crisis response teams help law enforcement in mental health cases (montcova.com) — Christiansburg residents now benefit from co-response crisis teams that pair trained officers with mental health clinicians for 911 calls involving behavioral health crises. Christiansburg Police Chief David Ramsey says every patrol officer receives Crisis Intervention Team training, helping stabilize people locally, reduce emergency custody orders, and connect residents more quickly with NRVCS's 23-hour crisis center and other services. 
• Christiansburg debates Flock cameras amid vandalism, civil liberties concerns (wsls.com) — Christiansburg's Town Council spent its latest work session reviewing the police department's use of Flock automated license plate reader cameras, amid vandalism of one device and online debate. Town leaders stressed the system's limited data capture and clean track record locally, while acknowledging residents' civil liberties concerns and the broader surveillance-state discussion.
• Mezo, Hazel Keeler (nrvnews.com) — Friends and former neighbors in Christiansburg are invited to remember longtime resident Hazel Gertrude Mezo, who moved here in 1970 when her husband transferred to the Corning plant in Blacksburg. After a life of volunteering, work, and family, she will be interred beside her husband at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, following a brief graveside service.
