Resident Robbed at Gunpoint, Suspect Brandishes Knife During Store Robbery: Alexandria Crime

A look at the most recent crimes reported by the Alexandria Police Department.

In the past week, the City of Alexandria experienced a shooting, as well as a resident being held up at gunpoint on Oronoco Street in the overnight hours last Tuesday (see Robbery, Individual) and a store being held up at knifepoint last Wednesday night (see Commercial Burglary).

The following are some of the most recent crimes reported in the City of Alexandria, reported by the Alexandria Police Department and posted on RAIDS Online:

Aggravated Assault

  • Tuesday, July 28, 1:27 a.m., 38XX Executive Avenue: Victim reported ex-boyfriend assaulted her.
  • Saturday, 3:56 a.m., 3XX S. Reynolds Street: Victim reported known suspect pointed a gun at his chest and stole his marijuana, iPhone and keys.
  • Sunday, 1:53 a.m., 10XX First Street: Subject was shot by unknown suspect/s while in the alley at this location. (Read: Alexandria Police Investigate Shooting on First Street)

Residential Burglary

  • Thursday, 4:22 p.m., 11XX Beverley Drive: Victim reported his brother stole stamps and cash from his residence.
  • Monday, 10 a.m., 2XX N. Payne Street: Unknown suspect/s forced their way into victim’s residence and stole her TV and sound bar.
  • Monday, 7:52 p.m.: 43XX Vermont Avenue: Victim reported unknown suspect/s entered his locked shed in his backyard and stole two bicycles

Commercial Burglary

  • Wednesday, July 29, 10:26 a.m., 5XX N. Henry Street: Owner of business reported unknown suspect/s smashed the rear glass door of her business, entered her office and stole a microwave.
  • Wednesday, July 29, 5:56 p.m., 5XX S. Van Dorn Street: Unknown suspect brandished a knife at the cashier in the store at this location and told the cashier to open the cash drawer when he grabbed the money and fled out the front door into a waiting vehicle.

Motor Vehicle Theft

  • Wednesday, July 29, 9:15 p.m., 46XX King Street: Known suspect stole victim’s vehicle and was found later and arrested.
  • Sunday, 11:44 a.m., 12XX Duke Street: Unknown suspect/s stole a scooter from victim’s fenced backyard at this location
  • Monday, 12:30 p.m., X Sunset Drive: Victim reported unknown suspect/s stole his vehicle parked in front of his residence

Sexual Assault

  • Thursday, 8:25 p.m., 9XX Manor Road (no information available from police)

Robbery (Individual)

  • Tuesday, July 28, 1:23 a.m., 3XX Oronoco Street.: Victim reported being robbed by an unknown suspect with a semi-automatic firearm
  • Wednesday, July 29, 11:44 p.m., 61XX Edsall Road: Unknown suspects attacked victim while he was walking in the area, they assaulted him, stole his wallet and its contents, his apartment keys and a bag of groceries.

Theft

  • Wednesday, July 29, 1XX S. West Street: Victim reports unknown suspect is seen stealing the daily paper from his business
  • Thursday, 4:35 p.m., 35XX Mount Vernon Avenue: Victim reported inadvertently leaving her cell phone at the cashier’s window at the bank at this location and when she returned to retrieve it, the phone was gone.
  • Saturday, 9:24 a.m., 1XX N. Patrick Street: Victim reported unknown suspect/s stole a delivered package of medications from the front door of his residence in the building at this location
  • Sunday, 3:30 p.m., 11XX N. Pitt Street: Victim reported unknown suspect/s stole a laptop, its power cable and change from his unlocked vehicle parked in the lot at this location.
  • Sunday, 10:07 p.m., 57XX Edsall Road: Victim reported unknown suspect/s stole her cell phone from her shopping cart in front of the store at this location.
  • Sunday, 10:43 p.m., 58XX Merton Court: During an argument, victim’s husband took her cell phone from her hand and left their residence, driving off in their van.
  • Sunday, 11:45 p.m., 57XX Edsall Road: Victim inadvertently left her wallet on the counter at the store at this location and when she returned to retrieve the wallet it was gone
  • Monday, 11:42 p.m., 1XX S. Reynolds Street: Victim reported four acquaintances who attended his barbecue stole his hand-held safe containing money and certificates from his residence.
