New Target Store, Wegmans Nearby: Falls Church Business In 2017
With Five Guys opening and Wegmans plans moving ahead nearby, there was plenty to talk about in Falls Church this year.

FALLS CHURCH, VA—It's been a big year for business in Falls Church from exciting new openings to announcements of future developments and goodbyes to beloved businesses.
From the announcement of a new Target in the city and confirmed plans of Wegmans close by to Liberty Barbecue replacing Famous Dave's, there was plenty to talk about during 2017. 1. Target To Open Another Falls Church Store
A new Target is slated to open in March 2018 in Falls Church. The location will be a small-format store in the mixed-use development Tinner Hall area. Falls Church currently has a full Target store at 6100 Arlington Blvd.

2. Wegmans, Conference Center Plan Approved In Tysons
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the Wegmans and conference center at the Capital One headquarters development in Tysons. Wegmans has gotten on board and is slated to open in late 2018. In addition, the development will include 800 apartment units as well as a conference center with an auditorium for corporate training and performing arts, a black box performance space and two classrooms.
Falls Church residents will soon have another option for grocery shopping. An ALDI will open in Falls Church in 2018. The grocery store will be located at Tower Square Shopping Center (155 Hillwood Avenue).
The first Falls Church ALDI location opened at 8100A Arlington Boulevard in Merrifield during November. ALDI is also set to open a City of Falls Church location in 2018 at Tower Square Shopping Center.
5. Five Guys Burgers Opens Location in Seven Corners Area
The popular Lorton-based burgers and fries chain Five Guys Burgers & Fries opened a location at the Seven Corners shopping center in January. With more than 1,350 locations across the country and in Canada, the Middle East and Europe, the chain got its start in 1986 in Northern Virginia. The iconic burger joint serves up burgers, hot dogs, french fries and milkshakes.
6. Liberty Barbecue Opens In Place Of Famous Dave's
Barbecue still reigns at 370 West Broad Street in Falls Church, as Liberty Barbecue opened in the former Famous Dave's location. The location officially opened Dec. 15 with a special "Brews and BBQ" grand opening event.
7. New Business In Town: La Favola Opens In Merrifield
If you're craving Italian food, there's a new option in La Favola, open at 2727-G Merrilee Drive in Merrifield. Founded by Del Ray's Bon Vivant Café + Farm Market owner Jawad Laouaouda and Chef Marco Tellaki, La Favola offers authentic, handcrafted Italian cuisine.
8. Teavana To Close Tysons Corner Store By Spring 2018
Starbucks announced it will close all 379 Teavana stores, including the one at Tysons Corner Center by spring 2018. The stores are mostly in malls, which have suffered from less foot traffic, Starbucks Chief Financial Officer Scott Harlan Maw told investors in a call.
9. Falls Church-Based Hospice Care Provider Marks 40 Years
The Falls Church-based Capital Caring hospice care provider celebrated 40 years of serving the region in April. The organization started by volunteers 40 years ago as one of the first hospice cares in the nation. Since then it has served over 110,000 individuals and families in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, DC.
10. Goldfish Swim School Opens This Summer in Falls Church
The owners of a swim school franchise in Reston brought their second swim school this summer to the Falls Church area. The Goldfish Swim School opened its indoor pool in a former Rite Aid location at The Shops at West Falls Church, 7395 Lee Hwy.
