DC Sniper Lee Boyd Malvo's 6 Life Sentences Unconstitutional: Attorney

An attorney for Lee Boyd Malvo, the convicted DC Sniper who is serving multiple life sentences at a supermax prison in Virginia, will argue in a Montgomery County, Maryland, courtroom that the killer's punishment is unconstitutional. The appeal is based on the fact that Malvo was 17 years old when he and his partner, John Allen Muhammad, began their cross-country shooting spree that focused on the Washington metro.

Massive Improvement in Metro Reliability, WMATA Claims

Complaints about the Metro system have reached a crescendo in the midst of SafeTrack and constant problems at Metro stations across the system, but WMATA claims that things are actually getting a lot better. WMATA said in a statement Tuesday that half as many trains had been offloaded in the first three months of 2017 compared to the same period last year.

Money Raised for Del Ray Shop Owner After House Fire

The Del Ray community is raising money for a family that lost their home in a fire April 13. Henry Kim, owner of Streets Market and Cafe grocery market in Del Ray, his wife and two children lost their Burke home and belongings in the fire. Fairfax County fire investigators estimate the damages at $163,750.
