Police offer the following tips to prevent crimes from unlocked vehicles:
- Lock your doors every time you leave your car. An unlocked door leads to access to the garage door opener which leads to your house.
- Don't leave keys in or on your vehicle.
- Never leave valuables in your vehicle, especially in plain sight. Electronics, GPS units, phones, laptops, purses and wallets are huge targets.
- Report suspicious activity, such as people walking around in the middle of the night and car alarms that continue to go off.
