County Employee from Kingstowne Charged with Indecent Liberties With a Child

Lee Betton's alleged crime took place five years ago, police say

A Kingstowne man has been charged with taking indecent liberties with a child under his care five years ago.

Lee Betton, a 62-year-old resident of the 5200 block of Leeward Lane, was accused Monday of taking indecent liberties with a then-17-year-old child whom he had a custodial relationship with. Fairfax County police were alerted by Betton's alleged victim, who now lives outside Virginia.

Virginia law defines "taking indecent liberties" as any person over 18 convincing or proposing to a minor to fondle sexual parts or perform a sexual act.

Until his arrest, Betton operated technology programs at several Fairfax County facilities as an employee of the county's Department of Neighborhood and Community Services. In an article, Betton is described as the employee responsible for "Computer Clubhouses," a group of after-school hang-outs for children.

Fairfax police say Betton did not commit the crimes he is accused of at any county facilities.
