Public Meeting Scheduled to Discuss High Quality Transit Network Concept

The public is invited to hear the proposal and share ideas and opinions.

TheĀ Fairfax County Department of TransportationĀ (FCDOT)Ā will host an open house public meeting and workshop from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday to discuss the proposed High Quality Transit Network concept. The meeting will take place at Conference Center Rooms 4 and 5 atĀ the Fairfax County Government Center located atĀ 12000 Government Center Parkway in Fairfax.

According to FCDOT, the proposed concept builds on current transit investments. The proposal would add another 31 miles of metrorail and 73 miles of light rail transit (LRT) or bus rapid transit (BRT) to create a connected network.

The proposal reads,Ā "This network includes commuter corridors and destination corridors, supported by a system of express bus routes."

The proposal includes fourĀ LRTs: Route 7 from Tysons to Alexandria, Richmond Highway from Alexandria to Fort Belvoir,Ā a transit line connecting McLean,Ā Tysons and Merrifield activity centers, and a line parallel to Route 28 between Centreville and Dulles Town Center.
