Do Fairfax County's Politicians Lag Behind on Twitter?

Four members of the Board of Supervisors have Twitter accounts

Suburban politicians in the Washington metro area exist in different Twitter worlds from their counterparts in the District, reports News Channel 8's Bruce DePuyt.

"In the District, politicians, journalists and residents engage in a rolling, candid and sometimes unruly conversation from daybreak until bedtime," DePuyt writes. Meanwhile, local politicians in Fairfax, Montgomery, and Prince George's counties tweet far less.

DePuyt notes that four members of Fairfax County's Board of Supervisors--Chairman Sharon Bulova (D), Pat Herrity (R-Springfield) John Cook (R-Braddock), and Michael Frey (R-Sully) are on Twitter. According to DePuyt, Bulova's tweeting style--or lack thereof, since she had last tweeted in March of 2011 when he wrote the article--is representative of local metro-area politicians outside of the District.

But that may be changing. After I tweeted the article on Kingstowne Patch's Twitter account, Bulova tweeted back that she focuses her social media efforts on her Facebook page.
