Greenspring to Be Recognized for 15 Successful Years in Springfield

Greenspring in the Springfield area is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, and the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors recently approved Sup. Jeff McKay's proposal to recognize the retirement community for its years of success.

"I’m proud that one of the county’s thriving retirement communities is in Lee District, "said McKay in his proposal during Tuesday's Board of Supervisors meeting. "Greenspring is the largest retirement community of its  type in Northern Virginia with nearly 1,900 residents and more than 800  staff members on a 108-acre campus. Greenspring opened its doors on Nov. 17, 1998 so next month marks its 15th anniversary."

This year, Greenspring received the Excellence in the Workplace Award from LeadingAge, and many of its residents volunteer throughout the year — logging in 100,959 volunteer hours in 2012.

The Board of Supervisors will recognize the Greenspring Executive Team and Resident Advisory Council for 15 years of success during the Nov. 19 meeting.
