The Fairfax County Park Authority will hold a public meeting Wednesday to talk about the future of Kingstowne Park.
The park, located on Old Telegraph Road near Hayfield Secondary, was damaged in October 2010 after days of heavy rains . Two ponds drained, leaving behind dead wildlife and a heavy rotting smell.
At the meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Franconia Government Center at 6121 Franconia Road, the Park Authority will ask for the public's reaction to the park's draft master plan (PDF).

The plan proposes adding another trail to the park, as well as some picnic tables and benches. The plan would keep much of the park in the same state, however, with many areas allowed to grow wild.
"The intention is to provide a balance between active stormwater management facilities, passive recreation opportunities, wildlife habitat and natural resource preservation," the plan reads.

The idea of upgrading an informal path over the dam, as suggested by the public, is rejected in the draft plan.
