Kingstowne Residents Donate $31,000 to Presidential Campaigns

Fairfax County residents donate more than $1 million.

Kingstowne area residents have contributed about $31,000 to presidential campaigns during the 2012 election cycle.

As of Feb. 21, 2012, President Barack Obama’s campaign has received about $15,000 from residents in the 22315 ZIP code, according to information at Opensecrets.org.

Former Gov. Mitt Romney’s campaign had the second-highest amount in contributions, with $8,000 from Kingstowne residents.

Former U.S. Rep. Newt Gingrich’s campaign has received about $6,000.

The campaigns to elect U.S. Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), and Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum received less than $2,500 each.

Fairfax County residents in Patch's coverage area have donated a total of more than $1.2 million to presidential campaigns.

More than half of those dollars have gone to Romney’s campaign, which has gained a total of more than $780,000 from Fairfax County residents. Obama has received the second-highest number of donations, with more than $620,000.

Gingrich has received more than $75,000 from county residents, while Santorum and Paul have collected less than $30,000 each.

The Virginia Republican Presidential Primary election will be held on Tuesday, March 6, but .

Polls are open between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.
