Pedestrian Identified in Fatal Wreck on I-95

Man was walking in the roadway when he was struck and killed in Springfield, according to Virginia State Police.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — The pedestrian struck and killed on Interstate 95 on Monday evening has been identified, according to Virginia State Police.

Jeremy D. Collins, 36, of Providence Forge, was not carrying an ID at the time of the wreck and had to be identified by the medical examiner.

At 8:29 p.m. Monday, a 2012 Toyota Corolla was heading south on I-95 when the driver saw Colllins walking in traffic wearing dark clothes.

The driver could not stop in time and was unable to avoid hitting Collins, according to Virginia State Police.

A 21-year-old Fredericksburg man, the driver was treated at an area hospital for minor injuries.
