Lynchburg, VA - February at Liberty University was marked by a series of food-driven events designed to bring students, faculty, and staff together in engaging ways. From specialty desserts to a restaurant-style dinner and a themed social event, Valentine’s Week offered multiple opportunities for the campus community to participate.

Throughout the month, Montview Student Union featured Cupid Cookies—red velvet chocolate chip cookies topped with cream cheese frosting and Valentine’s sprinkles. The limited-time offering quickly gained traction, with students stopping in between classes to enjoy the seasonal treat. Montview Market also carried a selection of Valentine’s-themed items, adding to the celebratory atmosphere across campus.

On February 10, Dining Services hosted its third annual Valentine’s Dinner in the lofted seating area of the Tilley Student Center. The space was transformed into a sit-down restaurant setting with pipe and drape and Valentine’s décor, creating an elevated experience within the campus dining environment. Guests reserved tables for two or four and paid using meal swipes, Dining Dollars, or Flames Cash.

The dinner menu included a choice of house or Caesar salad with Ranch or Italian dressing, followed by ribeye steak with au jus, roasted onions and mushrooms, garlic Parmesan green beans, a baked potato, and a warm house-baked bread roll. Cheesecake with chocolate or strawberry topping completed the meal. A total of 88 guests attended and each received a carnation at the conclusion of the evening.

Two days later, the annual Speed Dating event returned with a Renaissance-inspired theme, reimagined as “Speedeth Dating.” The Great Hall in Reber-Thomas Dining Center was styled to resemble a castle setting, adding a playful element to the experience. Hosted by Sodexo since 2014, Speed Dating remains one of the most anticipated annual events on campus. This year, 240 students participated, with some embracing the theme through costumes that helped break the ice and energize the room.

In one week, Dining Services served 88 guests at its Valentine’s Dinner and welcomed 240 students to Speed Dating, with strong demand for specialty desserts throughout February. Attendance continues to grow year over year.
