Community Access Network wins federal funding, plans new Lynchburg satellite site (newsadvance.com) — Community Access Network has secured federal funding and will open a new federally qualified health center satellite at Jubilee Family Development Center on Florida Avenue in Lynchburg. Starting in late November 2026, the site will offer primary care, behavioral health connections, and community health worker support in a historically underserved neighborhood, aiming to reduce barriers to care for local residents.

Educators at E.C. 3. HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Graham held in check by Heritage-Lynchburg in 21-6 loss (heraldcourier.com) — Heritage High School's Pioneers from Lynchburg opened their season with a 21–6 road win over Graham, leaning on strong defense and field position despite returning only three offensive starters. A freshman quarterback and big plays from the running game helped seal the victory in a penalty-filled matchup that saw both offenses struggle to find rhythm.
   

4. Substance use treatment program in Lynchburg area announced (newsadvance.com subscription) — A new $2.2 million, five-year Recovery and Reentry Program will expand substance use treatment and reentry support for people leaving Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority facilities in the Lynchburg area and surrounding localities. Funded by the Virginia Opioid Abatement Authority, the initiative will provide medication-assisted treatment, peer recovery services, and coordinated care to help reduce overdoses and repeat incarceration across Central Virginia.
