Lynchburg Field Notes: Symphony launches new season with largest orchestra yet (cardinalnews.org) — Lynchburg residents can look forward to the symphony's new season, opening September 26 with its largest-ever 80-piece orchestra at the Academy Center of the Arts. This week also brings 9/11 remembrance ceremonies at Monument Terrace, a Field of Honor flag display in Forest, a D-Day Memorial wreath-laying, and a James River cleanup at Rotary Centennial Lynchburg Skatepark kicking off James River Week.

Lynchburg City Council debates flock camera resolutions again days after special meeting (wset.com) — Lynchburg City Council has reaffirmed its earlier decision to end the city's contract with Flock camera and gunshot detection systems, sticking with Councilman Chris Faraldi's resolution after lengthy debate. The move keeps the devices offline until the contract expires in April 2027, avoiding early-removal fees while police leaders warn about losing a useful investigative tool and urge consideration of alternative technologies.
   

4. Man accused of placing cameras in dressing rooms across Lynchburg businesses facing more charges (wdbj7.com) — Lynchburg authorities say 26-year-old Derek Beard now faces additional charges in an ongoing investigation into hidden cameras allegedly placed in dressing rooms at several local businesses. Police believe more victims may be involved and are asking anyone who suspects they were recorded to complete an online victim identification form and contact Detective Gabriel Brown by email to help move the case toward trial this fall.
   

5. What to know about planned healthcare center on Florida Avenue (newsadvance.com) — A new federally funded Community Access Network clinic is coming to Florida Avenue at Jubilee Family Development Center, promising expanded primary care access for Lynchburg residents. With its new federal health center designation, CAN expects to broaden services and affordability, potentially reshaping how uninsured and underinsured neighbors in the city get routine and preventive care close to home.
