📰 News we're reading
• Governmental Meetings – Week of October 5, 2026 (pjrnews.com) — Madison County residents can track a busy civic week, with early voting for the November 3 general election underway at the county elections office and a joint Planning Commission/Board of Supervisors public hearing Wednesday night. Town of Madison residents also have a council meeting Thursday evening at Town Hall, giving locals several chances to follow or influence decisions close to home.
• ▶︎Aging Madison schools face costly repairs or new construction (pjrnews.com) — Madison County school leaders say the high and middle school buildings need major, costly repairs or possible replacement, and voters will soon decide on a 1% local sales tax to help fund such projects. Tours of the aging facilities highlight failing plumbing, outdated HVAC, security concerns, and cramped cafeterias, underscoring the pressure on residents to weigh long-term investment against higher taxes.
