White House Visitors Warned To Be Tested For COVID-19

Dr. LaQuandra Nesbitt, the director of the D.C. Department of Health, joined health leaders from nine area jurisdictions calling on recent visitors to the White House to get tested for COVID-19 and contact their local health departments about the potential need to quarantine. The warning included people who may have attended President Trump's Supreme Court announcement ceremony in the Rose Garden on Sept. 26.

Virginia's 1,844 New Coronavirus Cases Include Backlog

On Thursday, 1,844 new coronavirus cases were reported in Virginia, which includes a backlog of cases from Wednesday. The cumulative total of cases is 155,535, while 11,393 total hospitalizations and 3,328 deaths have been reported.

Deer-Related Crashes Increasing In Virginia As Loudoun Tops List

Autumn is a dangerous time of the year on Virginia roadways, for both drivers and deer. In 2019, Loudoun County topped the list of counties and localities with the most deer-related crashes in all of Virginia, with the most collisions occurring in November, according to a review by AAA Mid-Atlantic of crash data provided by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles.

St. Elizabeths Escapee Caught, Charged With Armed Kidnapping

Metropolitan Police Department detectives arrested two men Wednesday in connection with an Oct. 7 armed kidnapping near the Washington Navy Yard, according to a police release. One of men arrested is Bernard Coleman III, 27, of Southeast, who was wanted after escaping St. Elizabeths Hospital on Sunday.

ISIS Fighters Charged In Hostage Deaths of Americans

Two militant fighters for the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham are being held in Alexandria as they face charges related to a hostage scheme that led to the deaths of four Americans and others.
