Clean up and repairs continue after severe storms flood Wells Theatre twice in two days (wtkr.com) — Flooding from last week's severe storms twice inundated Norfolk's historic Wells Theatre, forcing Virginia Stage Company staff and cast to scramble to protect the stage and building. City crews and more than 40 volunteers have been helping with cleanup and repairs, while the company still plans to open its production of "Come Far Away" on September 2, pending continued progress.
   

2. USMS offer reward for information leading to the capture of man wanted for murder in Norfolk (13newsnow.com) — Federal marshals are offering a $5,000 reward for tips leading to the arrest of 30-year-old Skyler Brock, wanted in connection with an August 12 fatal shooting on Colley Avenue in Norfolk. Authorities say he should be considered armed and dangerous and urge anyone with information to contact the U.S. Marshals Service or Hampton Roads Crime Line, with all tips kept confidential.
   

3. 757 Votes: Hampton Roads elections on the ballot in November 2026 (pilotonline.com) — Norfolk voters face a busy November 3 ballot, choosing five City Council and five School Board members while also deciding on a 1% temporary sales tax increase to fund school construction and maintenance. A statewide guide also outlines similar local races across Hampton Roads, plus congressional contests and three proposed constitutional amendments on abortion access, same-sex marriage, and voting rights for people with felony records.
   

4. USPS Expands Holiday Stamp Line With New Kwanzaa Design (mychesco.com) — Norfolk will host the first-day ceremony for the Postal Service's new Kwanzaa Forever stamp on September 23 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott, and admission is free. The design, featuring a father and daughter with traditional Kwanzaa symbols, debuts during a major African American history conference, and locals can attend or later buy the stamp at post offices or online.
   

5. Roger Brown's restaurant renovations to bring around 30 apartments to Olde Towne (pilotonline.com) — A Norfolk-based developer is transforming the former Roger Brown's in Portsmouth's Olde Towne into roughly 30 market‑rate apartments and a refreshed restaurant space, working with a Norfolk design firm. The $8 million project, using historic tax credits, aims to preserve the building's exterior while fully modernizing the interior and could open new housing and dining options within about a year.
