Suspect in 2024 Portsmouth double shooting sentenced to 30 years: CAO (wtkr.com) — A man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for a 2024 double shooting on Lancer Drive in Portsmouth that killed Eric Pernell Jones Jr. and Russell Branden Barnes. Prosecutors say Jamal Antonio Parham admitted to the shooting, then pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder and two firearm charges, bringing closure in a high-profile neighborhood case. 
2. Crawford Bay developer decision expected by end of year as Portsmouth eyes construction start by 2029 (wtkr.com) — Portsmouth officials are closing in on choosing a developer to turn the six-acre Crawford Bay waterfront into a vibrant "second downtown," with selection expected in November and council review in December.
