• Days after prosecutor drops charges against 6 teens in 13-year-old's murder, 1 is shot days later (pilotonline.com) — Portsmouth prosecutors dropped charges against six teens in the killing of 13-year-old Jahkari Corbett after a conflict of interest surfaced, and a special prosecutor was appointed. Days later, police say one of those teens was shot in Dale Homes, ending a 400-day stretch without a shooting there and prompting renewed violence-intervention efforts. 
• We Have Dreams 2 opens Portsmouth home for young adults aging out of foster care (wtkr.com) — A Portsmouth nonprofit has opened a McDaniel Street home offering free housing, job help, and life-skills training for 10 young men ages 18 to 24 who've aged out of foster care. We Have Dreams 2, now partnering with the city, is accepting applications, seeking mentors, and guiding participants through a three-phase program toward stable jobs and independent living.
