Before Hampton Roads dove into Halloween weekend, families traded candy buckets for walking shoes with local business Groundworks’ St. Jude Walk on Oct. 24 at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex.
This family-friendly event brought the Hampton Roads community together in support of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's mission to find cures and save children. The day included a walk/run as well as activities for families and children. With Halloween just around the corner, participants were encouraged to wear costumes.
Groundworks has partnered with St. Jude for several years through fundraising and volunteer efforts, including a $100,000 company contribution supporting the hospital's mission to advance cures and treatment for childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
