Old Town Alexandria Flooded As Hurricane Approaches: Reports

City workers passed out sandbags Monday morning as Old Town residents and business owners coped with flooding along King Street and other low-lying parts of Alexandria. Floodwaters surged into Old Town on Sunday, receded and then returned Monday morning, according to media reports.

Hurricane Update: Florence May Pound NoVa With Rain

New forecasts have shifted the likely track of Hurricane Florence from the D.C. area to well south of here, but that doesn't mean we won't experience some of the damaging effects of this potentially historic storm. Wind speeds reached 130 miles per hour around noon Monday.
