Woman Injured in Alameda Apartment Fire
The fire Thursday evening was in a six-unit apartment building.

ALAMEDA, CA — One woman was taken to the hospital Thursday evening after she was rescued by firefighters from a burning apartment building. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The fire was in a six-unit apartment building in the 600 block of Central Avenue. Fire crews arrived just before 6 p.m. and found the fire on the first floor.
"Crews stretched a pre-connected hose line and made entry into the building," according to the fire department. "Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire, with complete extinguishment at 6:12 p.m."

Fire damage was confined to one unit with another two units sustaining smoke damage. A total of 20 firefighters responded, none of whom were injured.
The cause was determined to be combustible items placed on top of a floor furnace.

Alameda Police, Alameda Power, P.G. & E and the Alameda Building Department also responded to the fire.
