Lydiksen Elementary School was on lockdown for a short period of time on Wednesday afternoon. The precautionary lockdown was lifted at 2 p.m.

According to Pleasanton Police Lt. James Knox, a man in his mid-20s pulled a knife on his mother at a residence near the school. He was last seen on Foothill Rd. in the vicinity of Lydiksen, prompting the lockdown.

“The parents of an adult male reported their son brandished a knife and threatened to kill them,” Sergeant Pat Walsh said. “The suspect fled as officers were enroute.”

The suspect, 27-year-old Christopher Kliment, was arrested without incident after officers found him on the Pleasanton BART South platform station awaiting a train, Walsh said.

“Kliment was subsequently booked in Santa Rita Jail for brandishing a weapon and making criminal threats,” Walsh said.

Police officials sent out two Nixle Alerts regarding the incident and Lydiksen Principal Jacob Berg had an auto message sent to parents to inform them of the situation, which caused a flood of calls from concerned parents.

School District officials released the text of Berg’s call:

Dear Lydiksen Families,

Today at 1:45 p.m. a school lockdown was initiated after the Pleasanton Police Department notified the office of police activity in the area. This activity was not on or associated with our campus. However, student safety is our number one priority and the lockdown was initiated as a precaution. About 2 p.m., Pleasanton PD notified the school that it was safe to lift the lockdown.

Thank you to our staff and students for quickly following practiced protocol and ensuring our students’ and staff safety.

Sincerely,

Jacob Berg Principal, Lydiksen Elementary
