NEW CANAAN, CT — An episode of "Dateline NBC" airing Monday night will focus on the day Jennifer Farber Dulos disappeared, and the show will feature interviews with Connecticut Chief State's Attorney Richard Colangelo and state police Sgt. Kenneth Ventresca.

Jennifer Dulos, a New Canaan mother of five, vanished from her home May 24, 2019, and has not been found. She was in the midst of divorcing Fotis Dulos at the time of her disappearance. Authorities presume she is dead.

Fotis Dulos was charged with kidnapping and murdering her, and though he pleaded not guilty, he took his life in January before he could stand trial. Two people prosecutors believe helped him — his former girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, and an attorney and friend, Kent Mawhinney — have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Their trials are pending.

In Monday's broadcast, entitled "The Day Jennifer Disappeared," Ventresca, lead investigator for state police, says the case remains active, and he is "confident" authorities will find her.

Colangelo offers similar sentiments, hinting there may be more searches forthcoming in the Farmington and Avon areas.

"You know, I have theories," Colangelo tells Dennis Murphy of NBC News. "I have ideas. There's a lot of property up there that Mr. Dulos owns, you know, in the Farmington, Avon area."

Last month, authorities searched an Avon property where Jennifer and Fotis briefly lived in 2010, but investigators did not find any new evidence.

The mystery of what happened to Jennifer Dulos has drawn international attention over the course of the 13-plus months she has been gone, with Monday's show being the latest to explore the case. Last month, Investigation Discovery aired a new documentary, "Vanished In New Canaan: An ID Mystery," which also discussed elements of the case.

Troconis is free on bond and is due back in court Aug. 6, while Mawhinney is scheduled to next appear in court Sept. 3. He remains incarcerated.

Both cases are being heard in Stamford Superior Court, though Troconis' attorney, Jon Schoenhorn, filed a motion to move the case to Hartford Superior Court, closer to Troconis' home in Avon.

Schoenhorn also argues that his client's case involves alleged actions in the Hartford area, where she is accused of helping Fotis Dulos discard items that authorities found and tested. Many of those items — articles of clothing and sponges, among other things — tested positive for Jennifer's DNA, according to authorities.

In a motion filed this week, Colangelo opposes a change in venue, writes News 12 Connecticut's Marissa Alter.

Colangelo claims the "epicenter" remains New Canaan, in the jurisdiction of Stamford Superior Court, and Troconis never requested a change of venue until she retained Schoenhorn, several months and several court appearances after her initial arrest in June 2019.

"In service to that conspiracy, Troconis repeatedly misled police investigating Jennifer's disappearance and actively hid and destroyed evidence," Colangelo wrote. "Although some of those acts took place outside of this district, the epicenter of the criminal enterprise — the place where Jennifer's murder occurred — lies squarely within the ambit of this venue, New Canaan. And it is therefore for the citizens of this district to determine whether Troconis is guilty or not guilty of the offenses arising out of Jennifer's murder."

Monday's episode of Dateline NBC is scheduled to air at 10 p.m. on NBC stations. Check local listings for the channel.
