TAMPA, FL — Local and federal authorities are cracking down on doctors who write unnecessary prescriptions of narcotics. A Port Richey doctor has been ordered to pay $500,000 in civil penalties while a Clearwater doctor is behind bars after being accused of selling hundreds of prescriptions for opioids.
