Octogenarian jewel thief Doris Payne is back in the news this week after being arrested for allegedly shoplifting from a Walmart in DeKalb County. Payne, 86, is well known to metro Atlanta law enforcement and even internationally for her prolific exploits in lifting expensive jewelry from upscale stores.
Payne was re-arrested on a parole violation one day after briefly bonding out of a jail on a theft charge at the Walmart.

Gwinnett Woman Killed, Husband On The Run: Police

A Gwinnett County woman was shot and killed late Thursday and her husband was on the run Friday morning, police said.Gwinnett County Police were still on the scene of the shooting on Medlock Park Drive, near Snellville, early Friday morning. They were called to the home shortly after midnight. According to police, Walter J. Lowe, 51, and wife Erica Powell, 46, had been fighting Friday.

Cobb Police Investigate After Woman Is Shot Outside Starbucks In Atlanta

A woman suffering from a gunshot wound pulled into a Starbucks in Cobb County on Thursday then inexplicably drove away, according to authorities. The incident occurred just after 2:30 p.m. at the coffee shop located at 2495 Cumberland Parkway in Atlanta. Cobb police are investigating the shooting as an aggravated assault.
