1 Person Dead After Newton Car Crash

The accident involved two vehicles, and one of the drivers has died.

NEWTON, MA — One person is dead in the aftermath of a motor vehicle accident that took place Tuesday afternoon, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and the Newton Police Department.

Newton Police told Patch that it closed down the portion of Walnut Street between Homer Street and Beacon Street to investigate the two-vehicle crash, which took place at approximately 4:30 p.m. on the corner of Walnut Street and Judith Road. The driver of one of the vehicles, a 45-year-old woman, was transported to the hospital and later succumbed to her injuries. Her vehicle reportedly struck a tree as a result of the accident. The driver of the other vehicle sustained injuries that are not described as serious.

The incident remains under investigation by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Newton Police Department, and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
