2 Vehicle Crash Knocks Down Utility Pole In East Concord: Watch

One person was injured during a crash between a Prius and a crossover at Mountain Road and Hoit Road — an intersection with prior accidents.

CONCORD, NH — Police and fire and rescue teams were sent to a two-vehicle accident in East Concord on Friday.

Around 6 p.m., dispatchers began receiving calls from an automatic cellphone notification that there was a multi-vehicle accident at Mountain Road and Hoit Road, an intersection where there have been several prior crashes. A caller, who witnessed the collision, also reported a utility pole was taken out during the crash.

When police and firefighters arrived, they reported all drivers and passengers out of the vehicles. Police attempted to reroute traffic from the crash.

The fire commander confirmed the pole was knocked down and Unitil was requested to the scene. Power was not out even though the pole had been knocked down. The pole was for the flashing warning light at the intersection and was not an electric pole. The fire commander also told EMTs, who were on their way, that one person had a leg injury.

Three other patients refused treatment. The crash was between a Toyota Prius and a Mazda CX5 crossover.

Later, police moved the cruisers around to shut the intersection down completely.

“People aren’t getting the message with four cruisers and two fire apparatus,” one officer said after directing another to close Mountain Road at Sanborn Road and Sanborn Road at Hoit Road.

Two no-preference tows were requested for the vehicles.

Firefighters cleared just past 6:30 p.m.

NEWS 603 posted a video on Facebook from the crash scene.

Several crashes have occurred at or near the intersection in the past few years.

In late June 2022, a multi-vehicle crash sent two people to Concord Hospital. In September 2022, near Old Shaker Road, a truck flipped into some swampland nearby.
