Isaac D. Valk, 19, of South Street in Concord, was arrested at 5:08 a.m. on Aug. 12, and charged with driving while intoxicated, criminal trespass, and unlawful possession of alcohol. Also charged was Jarad F. Fontone, 18, of Currier Road in Loudon, for criminal trespass. According to two arrest reports, at around 4 a.m., bike patrol officers heard a call from another officer about a suspicious person near the clock tower in Eagle Square. The officers headed over to the area and met with the officer at the intersection with School Street. A few minutes later, one of the officers heard an object – later identified as a Bic lighter – bounce near where they were standing. The officers began inspecting the building rooftops to see if they could find whoever threw the lighter at them but they didn’t see anything. They then headed to the Durgin Parking Garage and spoke to two subjects, later identified as Valk and Fontone, who were in a black Honda Prelude. Fontone was reportedly out of breath and allegedly smelled like alcohol. “We are waiting for a buddy to get out of work,” he reportedly told the officer. Another officer went to the top level of the garage and observed fresh footprints through puddles in the cement. When asked if they were on the top of the garage, Fontone allegedly stated, “Probably not.” He was then arrested. Valk, who was in the driver’s seat, allegedly had red bloodshot eyes and was slurring his words while speaking. He allegedly denied drinking and after some back and forth with the officer, was arrested. Valk is due in court on Aug. 31. According to one of the arrest reports, Fontone allegedly admitted to being on the roof of one of the North Main Street buildings but denied throwing the lighter at police. He’s due in court on Sept. 21.
