Elderly Woman Indicted For Allegedly Strangling A Child: Court

Laconia, Somersworth men indicted for dealing drugs; Belmont and Salem residents indicted for theft, Pittsfield habitual offender indicted.

CONCORD, NH — The following people were indicted recently in Merrimack County Superior Court.

Edgar Hewitt, 33, of Catamount Road in Pittsfield, for felony habitual offender for allegedly driving on Hall Street in Concord on Sept. 15, 2017.

David Holbrook, 55, of Central Street in Franklin, for felony tampering with a witness. On July 25, 2017, in Franklin, he allegedly attempted to induce a woman to withhold testimony against her significant other by saying “forget this sh--" and “just don’t show up” or words to that effect.

Stephen Johnstone, 28, lower left, of Laconia, incarcerated at the time of the indictment, for possession of a controlled drug-methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of a controlled drug-methamphetamine, both felonies. The charges stem from an alleged incident on Oct. 31, 2017, on Loudon Road in Concord. Previously, according to the indictment, he was convicted of possession in Belknap County Superior Court in December 2016.

Jennifer Karl, 35, lower middle, of Main Street in Belmont, for theft by unauthorized taking and three counts of possession of a narcotic drug-methamphetamine, fentanyl, MDMA, all felonies. The theft charge stems from an alleged incident on Sept. 17, 2017, at the Walmart on Loudon Road in Concord when “she removed property from the store without paying for it by using a self check-out register and paying for certain items” after having been convicted twice before of theft related offenses. The drug charges stem from an alleged incident in Bow on Oct. 30, 2017.

Kyle Leavy, 31, lower right, of Rowland Street in Somersworth, on four counts of sale of a substance represented to be a narcotic drug-heroin-accomplice, four counts of sale of a narcotic drug-fentanyl-accomplice, and four counts of conspiracy to commit sale of a substance represented to be a narcotic drug-heroin. The charges stem from alleged incidents – including working in concert with Heather Smith, at times – on Fisherville Road in Concord in December 2016, and January 2017.

Carrie L. Morse, 66, of West Bow Street in Franklin, for second-degree assault, a felony, as well as simple assault. On Sept. 15, 2017, she allegedly strangled and covered the face of a child under 13 as well as grabbing the child in order to impede breathing in Franklin.

Peter Nightingale, 25, of Lemay Road in Salem, for felony theft by unauthorized taking. On July 26, 2017, he allegedly stole money from the Dunkin’ Donuts on South Main Street in Concord. Twice before, according to the indictment, he has been convicted – of theft in Keene District Court in January 2016, and receiving stolen property in January 2016 in Nashua District Court.
