Sketch From Concord Couple Killings Investigation Leads To 100+ Tips
The drawing of a person of interest cops want to speak with in the Stephen and Djeswende Reid homicide case garners strong public response.

CONCORD, NH — Slightly more than 24 hours after releasing a sketch about a person of interest as part of an investigation into the deaths of a retired couple, more than 100 tips have been received by the Concord Regional Crimeline.
The graphic of the man, who is wanted for questioning as part of the Stephen and Djeswende Reid homicide case, was released on Tuesday. Geoffrey Ward, a senior assistant attorney general, and Concord Police Chief Brad Osgood along with Deputy Chief John Thomas of the Concord Police Department, held a follow-up news conference hours later to discuss the state of the investigation.
The person of interest was described as a white man, in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with a medium build, short brown hair, and clean-shaven. He was wearing a dark blue jacket, possibly with a hood, and khaki-colored pants. The man was also carrying a black backpack.

The man was seen in the vicinity of where the homicides took place on April 18, according to investigators.
On Tuesday, Ward did not answer many direct questions about how investigators came up with the person of interest sketch. He said the backpack the man was carrying was a smaller school-like backpack.

Michael Garrity, the director of communications for the attorney general's office, told Patch on Wednesday more than 100 tips have been submitted to the Crimeline as part of the case.
More than $33,000 worth of rewards, with various conditions, were also promoted by investigators on Tuesday. Two anonymous donors have posted $20,000 and $5,000 toward the reward. The Concord Police Patrolmen's Association and Supervisors Association, as well as the Retired New Hampshire State Police Troopers Association, have also contributed to the reward.
The anonymous donor of the $20,000 has pledged the funds so long as information about the case gets submitted within the next 60 days, Garrity said.

The Reids were killed sometime after 2:30 p.m. on April 18 on the Marsh Loop Trail off Portsmouth Street in East Concord.
The trail is part of the Broken Ground Trail system in that area of the city. The family reported being in contact with the couple on the day they died but after Stephen Reid missed a pre-scheduled event on Tuesday, they became concerned and reported them missing.
The couple’s bodies were found on April 21, having been killed due to multiple gunshot wounds.
After more than 48 hours of collecting evidence from the crime scene and returning repeatedly, investigators began expanding the search for clues away from the crime scene — including area businesses and requests for dashcam and doorbell camera surveillance footage for April 17 and April 18, from homes more than 2 miles from the scene of the shooting.
